Happy Birthday/Retirement

On May 25th, my wife Sarah, will be celebrating her birthday. This birthday is one of those important Social Security birthdays. I'm not going to say how old she'll be, but for about a month she'll be the same age as me and I'm 65.

Knowing the milestone birthday was coming, she decided many months ago she was going to retire after 36 years with ORNL, Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Sarah started her working career nearly 46 years ago at Maremont. She was there for about 4 years until we decided to have kids. During that time, she operated our little fruit market, Ford Road Fruits And Veggies. After the kids got older, she decided to go back into the workforce. She signed on with a temp agency where her first assignment was at ORNL. Shortly thereafter, she was hired by ORNL. Since COVID, she has worked from home for the last 4 years as an instructional designer. And as they say, the rest is history.

Now that we're both going to be retired, I guess, as of June 1, we'll be spending more time together than ever. Humm.

I certainly want to wish Sarah a very happy birthday but I especially want to congratulate her on her retirement. She has earned it and deserves it.
