Detective Stops Sex Offender; other arrests reported

FROM STAFF REPORTS

Earlier this month, Sergeant Detective Rondel M. Branam was made aware that the United States Marshals Service had arrested one Matthew Pocklington at his place of work in Blount County.

Pocklington had warrants out for his arrest due to his avoidance of the sex offender registry and subsequent parole violation, according to reports.

Upon speaking to Mr. Pocklington, USMS officers were told by the suspect that he had been on the run for almost three years, currently living in Sweetwater, with an address listed in Loudon County.

Detective Branam was asked to verify this information, leading to his arrival at the campsite for which the address was listed and spoke with the administrative staff.

The staff then provided the documentation for his address, which was being rented under the name of his spouse on a lease from this past February up until February of 2026.

While Pocklington was not at the site upon Branam’s visit, a white Nissan Titan with Wisconsin registration was found parked outside, the registration of which was associated with the suspect.

While no contact was made on the site, office workers did state that there was a male living with the woman whose name was on the lease of the living space. A standard background check showed that Pocklington was, in fact, a registered sex offender that had been living in Loudon County for longer than 48 hours without registering with the proper agencies the law requires.

Pocklington was taken into police custody on April 9, 2025.
