| Back in March 2021, the
federal government
sent out
$1.9 trillion dollars called the American Rescue Plan Act
(ARPA). Money was sent to every city and county in the country. Loudon
County received $10,502,075.00. When the money was first paid out, there
were so many restrictions and strings attached, it would have been hard
for any local government to use the money. Later, most all restrictions
were removed and the money could be used for any governmental uses with
a few exceptions.
Loudon County commissioners voted to allow each of the 10
commissioners to use $500,000.00 each to be spent in their districts.
The balance of the money would be used for county wide projects.
Below is a spreadsheet on how and where the the ARPA
money has been spent to date. The sheet below only shows the money that
has been spent or obligated to date. There are still other projects in
the in he works but not yet obligated or spent.
You will note, that several
commissioners have spent a lot of their allocation on road paving and
there's more to come.
