Woman Threatens and Assaults Officers After Attempted Break In

Homeowner reportedly defends home with a gun pointed in suspect’s direction

NEWS-HERALD STAFF

On July 9, Loudon County Deputy Ryne Miller responded to a call about an unwanted guest on Hines Valley Road. The unwanted guest was identified as Regina Helton, who was trying to force herself into the residence.

Once Miller arrived, Helton told the deputy that she was trying to get her dog from the residence. … Miller contacted the residence’s owners who said that Helton was banging on the door and tried to force herself inside.

One of the homeowners reportedly pointed a gun at Helton to get her to back out of the residence.

Miller then reportedly contacted a man who said he had driven Helton to the residence. Helton asked the driver if he had a gun — and then stated that they may need one.

The male driver reported that Helton was banging on the door, tried to break into the home and was pushed away with a gun pointed in her direction.

After hearing multiple stories, Helton was placed in custody. While driving her back to the jail, Helton reportedly threatened the deputy by telling him that she would kill his whole family.

Once Helton arrived at the jail, she was given an issued uniform to wear by different police officers. When an officer reached down to grab one of the clothing articles, Helton reportedly smacked the officer.

The 46-year-old woman was charged with aggravated burglary, assaulting a first responder, and retaliating for past acts.
