News Herald Arrest Report

Various pills found during traffic stop

Two Maryville residents were arrested after law enforcement initially observed their vehicle unable to maintain its lane.
Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Kevin Dailey first noticed a white Chevrolet Trailblazer unable to stay in the proper lane while heading north on Highway 411. After following the vehicle, Dailey observed the vehicle continuing to remain in the left lane.

Dailey conducted a traffic stop at Highway 411 and Trigonia Road North, which is where he met driver Richard Lamont Curtis and passenger Juanita Louise Boddie.

“... Both subjects appeared nervous with Mrs. Boddie never looking myself in the face and Curtis rummaging through his vehicle frantically,” Dailey wrote in the report.

Stories given by the couple did not match.

Boddie later admitted to having three Suboxone in her bag, which was in the floorboard, that were allegedly not hers. Although Curtis refused consent of searching the vehicle, Dailey conducted the search because of the Suboxone. Inside the vehicle were “a large amount of pills and counterfeit bills.”

Located in the vehicle were 162 pills, including Oxycodone, Oxymorphine, Opana and Morphine. Curtis had $114 in his pocket, according to the report.

Curtis, 47, was charged with criminal simulation, possession of legend drugs and eight counts of manufacture, sell, delivery or resale of a Schedule II substance and held without bond.

Boddie, 36, was charged with simple possession/casual exchange and released on $2,000 bond.
