Under Vote

There's interesting aspect to elections that a lot of people aren't familiar with. It's called the under vote. That's where a voter goes to the polls but for whatever reason chooses not to vote for a particular candidate on their ballot. In this election the under vote in several of the contests could have changed the outcome of that election.

In the 2nd district race between Earlena Maples and Julia Hurley, Hurley won by 28 votes. The under vote in that race was 93. 93 people went to the polls but for whatever reason decided not to vote in this contest.

In the 2nd district school board race, William Jenkins beat Mike Hickman by 46 votes. The under vote in this race was 189.

In those two races, every vote could have counted, sadly some just decided not to cast a vote at all.

In addition, in nearly all the county, uncontested races, mayor, assessor, court clerk, ETC, there was a 20% or more under vote.
