UK man arrested for soliciting minor

A man from the United Kingdom is in jail locally after being charged with pursuing a Lenoir City teen for sex.

Roy Anthony Williams, 52, admitted he tried to persuade a 13-year-old girl to engage in acts that would constitute aggravated statutory rape.

“Williams did send (the girl) messages encouraging her to meet him and offering to go to her residence and pick her up,” Lenoir City Police Sgt. Lynette Ladd wrote in her report.

The girl was invited to Williams’ room at a local motel, which is where law enforcement found him, according to the report.

“Williams texted (the girl’s) phone asking, ‘Are you still OK about me taking ur virginity?’ Williams also commented through (the girl’s) phone, ‘It’s never been about sex. It’s much more. I love you. I desire you’.”

The report details that Williams sent text messages knowing the girl was under 18 years old. He flew from his country, the United Kingdom, in late May. He posted via social media photographs of the girl’s home and street sign where she lives, according to the report. He flew back to his country and returned to Lenoir City on July 1.
