TVA work will cause lane closures in Lenoir City, Kingston

TVA has scheduled highway lane closures this weekend, April 19-22, for geotechnical work at Fort Loudoun Dam near Lenoir City and the Kingston Dike in downtown Kingston, weather permitting.

TVA has contracted to perform core drilling to assess the health of all 49 TVA dams as part of a continuous improvement campaign. The work at Fort Loudoun Dam will take about eight weeks.

One lane of U.S. 321 at Fort Loudoun Dam will be closed from 8 p.m. EDT on Friday, April 19, until noon on Monday, April 22. Travel will be controlled by a temporary traffic light.

One lane of U.S. 70 in Kingston at the Kingston Dike will be closed from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. EDT on Sunday, April 21. Travel through this section will be controlled by flaggers.

This work was previously scheduled to occur in March but was postponed due to weather.
