This Is Serious

Loudon County School Board members learned at Thursday's meeting that officials have evidence that someone has been tampering with natural gas lines inside Greenback school. Loudon County Purchasing Director/Maintenance Director Leo Bradshaw, told board members that there was little doubt that someone had loosened couplings on four gas lines in the gymnasium causing natural gas to leak into the facility.

According to Bradshaw, Greenback Fire Chief Ronnie Lett personally witnessed contractors making appropriate connections on the gas line couplings only to find the couplings loose and leaking a few days later. Bradshaw also stated that the sheriff's department had been contacted and the investigation is ongoing. Bradshaw reported that actions were being taken to better secure the facility from changing locks to installing surveillance equipment.

The county is offering a $1,000.00 reward for information about the tampering.
