I was going through some old papers the other night and came across this nugget.
This was the first page of the two page Lenoir City High School Student Guide I received when I entered my senior year of high school. This, I guess, was the forerunner of the now used student hand book.
One thing not mentioned in the guide's Smoking Regulations is, that even though it was not normally allowed, if it was really, really cold outside, school officials would allow us smokers to step just inside the building, at the end of the long walk, while we smoked.
By the way, to get a smoking permit, you had to have a letter from your parents saying it was OK for you to smoke. They were real easy to forge.
Boy have things changed.
