GREENBACK— A Greenback School teaching assistant was fired after police said she stole medication from a teacher.

Christi L. Cullen, who was fired by the Loudon County school system on Wednesday, was arrested the same day and charged with theft of property.
She was free in lieu of $5,000 bond.

Teacher Nancy Downey told police Monday she was missing medication from her classroom, including 13 prescription Adderall pills, according to an arrest warrant.

A security video showed Cullen going to Downey’s room several times when Downey was not in the room, according to the warrant.

When questioned by a Loudon County Sheriff’s detective, Cullen admitted taking the Adderall from Downey’s prescription bottle inside her purse in the classroom, police said.

“Cullen stated that she did take one from the room on Tuesday and she had taken more before that date,” according to the arrest warrant.
