Teacher Resigns

Hoffmeister resigns from Lenoir City Middle School

Greg Wilkerson News Herald

The Lenoir City Middle School teacher charged last week with contributing to the delinquency of a minor has left her position at the school according to Wayne Miller, Lenoir City Schools superintendent.

In the letter signed by Lisa Hoffmeister and her attorney, Gregory Isaacs, sent through her attorney’s office, she cited personal and health reasons for resigning, Miller said.

He said he planned to terminate Hoffmeister upon her return to school. She has not been back since the incident Thursday night.

“What caused this to be an issue is she was under court order to stay away from the child,” Miller said.

Earlier in the year Hoffmeister was suspended for 30 days for a failure to report suspected child abuse to the authorities, Miller said. With only a few weeks left in the school year, her position will be filled in the fall.
