Stretch of I-75 renamed for fallen Loudon County deputy

LOUDON, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A stretch of Interstate 75 through Loudon County has a new name honoring Deputy Jason Scott, who was killed in the line of duty.

The Sheriff's Office held a special ceremony Saturday morning to unveil new signs that will be placed along the road.

Scott was shot three times while responding to a domestic violence call in 2004.

His daughter Jayden, who was born only days later, did the honor of pulling the curtain.

"[It was] emotional. I felt excited, and amazed," she says.

"The outpouring of support is constant. Loudon County is just a special place," says Sheriff Tim Guider.

The memorialized portion of the interstate stretches 13 miles between mile markers 68 and 81.
