Sign Thieves

Two charged with stealing road signs

A Philadelphia man and woman were arrested Nov. 26 after it was discovered they had several Monroe County Road signs in a shed behind their house.

Monroe County Road Superintendent Steve Teague told Monroe County Sheriff's Deputy Tillman Steele one of his employees had been told about the signs being at a house on Eve Mill Road, between Sweetwater and Philadelphia.

The employee said he went to the house and saw six to eight signs, including one from the intersection of Seed Tick and Eve Mill roads.

Tillman went to the house and saw the signs. He said he knocked on the door and talked to Natasha Lynn Ramsey, who said she only knew of one sign, the one from Seed Tick and Eve Mill that she and Christopher Hall carried to her house. She said they were planning on putting it back later.

Tillman said he went to the shed with Ramsey and Hall and showed them the signs. Hall insisted the couple had only taken the one sign.

Hall, 25, and Ramsey, 20, were both arrested and charged with theft over $500.
