|The folks in Lenoir City and around the county may be
suffering from sign rage. More particularly, political sign rage. Seems
many candidates have lost a lot of their campaign signs. I could be that
people have just had all the signs they can take. With so many
candidates running for office it seems that everywhere you look all you
see are political signs.
Please bear with us.
In Loudon County, there is just no good way to communicate to the masses. Not everybody is reading the News Herald and, most local candidates can't afford the ad rates. Some candidates have turned to the internet to get their message out but there is still a lot of people who are not on the internet and for sure, it would be impossible for a candidate to knock on the door of every constituent. So what's left? Signs, signs, signs.
We all hate to see political signs cluttering up the roadways but let me assure you, no one dislikes signs more than the candidates. Candidates have to buy the signs, put them out, maintain them, then when the election is over, pick them up. It's just part of running for office and remember it is just temporary. And by the way, it is illegal to steal signs. Actually campaign signs are very Americana. There's not many other countries where the average Joe has the right to run for a political office.
Hopefully, all candidates will have their signs removed quickly after the election, then we should have about a two year break before we have to hear about anymore elections
