Shots fired during Loudon
County police chase, suspect in custody
Police captured a robbery suspect after a chase involving gunfire in Loudon County Sunday, with no reported injuries KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — No injuries were reported after shots were fired during a Loudon County police chase early Sunday morning, according to the Loudon County Sheriff's Office.
LCSO deputies began
assisting the Knox County Sheriff's Office around 2 a.m.
Sunday, after a report of a vehicle chase. The suspect,
driving a white Jeep and wanted on robbery charges, led
officers into the county on Highway 70.
Deputies say shots were fired during the chase, but that no one was injured. According to LCSO, the driver continued along Highway 70 and onto Highway 321 in Lenoir City. where it collided with a Lenoir City Police Department vehicle. Deputies were able to box the Jeep in, and the driver was taken into custody.
The identity
of the driver is unknown at this time. The Tennessee
Highway Patrol is assisting with the crash and the
ongoing investigation.
