Sad News

Learned Friday night that our Cracker Barrel will be adding beer and wine to their menu. For me, that's sad news. Bout the only two places in our area that don't already sale alcohol are Cracker Barrel and Shoneys.

Long, long time ago, I made the decision not to eat in our restaurants that sale alcohol. I've just always been opposed to the sale of alcohol that increase the likelihood of drunk driving.

Many years ago, there was a bar/restaurant on Old Hwy. 95 where Adesa Boulevard intersection is now. A patron of that bar/restaurant left that establishment, drove a hundred yards, crossed the centerline and struck an oncoming car head on. Sadly, a 9 year old boy was killed instantly and his mother critically injured. As I saw this, it dawned on me, if that bar/restaurant hadn't been at that location, that child would not have been killed at that spot at that time. Since that time, I have been a vocal opponent of drunk driving and adding more places for drivers to get drunk. It's always seemed odd to me that it is illegal to drive drunk but it's perfectly legal to drive to get drunk.

All that said, if you would like to register your opposition or support for Cracker Barrel's decision to add alcohol to their menu, you can contact them below.

Do people really want a beer with their gravy & biscuit?
