ROANE COUNTY (WVLT) – The eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 were restored Sunday evening after a late morning wreck near the Roane County- Loudon County line.

Highway patrol says the wreck happened between mile markers 359 and 360. Five vehicles involved in the wreck including a Loudon County Sheriff's cruiser, funnel cake vending truck, and two tractor trailers

For several hours, east bound traffic was diverted around the scene, onto exit 356 for Gallaher Road.

Loudon County dispatchers confirmed the sheriff's deputy and his cruiser were involved in the accident, but he suffered no injuries and was able to drive away from the scene. It was not immediately known if anyone in the other vehicles were hurt.

Traffic was backed up for several hours on Saturday due to road work at mile marker 360. A lane of traffic remains closed there due to construction.
