Ft. Loudoun Middle School officially dedicated

wbir.com-Loudon County is celebrating its first new school in nearly three decades.

Community leaders officially cut the ribbon tonight at Fort Loudoun Middle on Thursday. After the ceremony, students, teachers and members of the public walked through the halls to check out the completed school.

District officials say the new school will help ensure students have appropriate places to learn.

"Every student will have a classroom that's suitable. We had classrooms in locker rooms in the past, and now everybody has classrooms that's amply supplied with materials that are going to help them be prepared for high school, college and careers," said Jason Vance, Loudon Co. director of schools.

Classes have been held at the new middle school since the start of the school year. But now, Vance says they'll be able to start using the gym, auditorium and other parts of the school that weren't ready in August.
