CAR BURGLARIES

In Loudon County, two individuals were arrested on Monday, July 21, and charged with Felony Burglary after several car burglaries over the weekend in Loudon and some surrounding counties. Arrested were Michael Gage Johnson, 19, of 131 Oakland Avenue in Lenoir City and Douglas Lee Burns, 26, of 411 Riverbend Drive in Loudon. Both men admitted to the burglaries.

The investigation began on July 16 after cars in several subdivisions were targeted. Taken in those burglaries were guns and ammunition, electronic equipment, purses, medical equipment, cash, checkbooks, credit cards, and law enforcement equipment.

Loudon County Criminal Investigations Division, assisted by the 9th Judicial Task Force, officers from Sheriff’s Departments in Knox and Blount Counties, and Maryville and Oak Ridge Police Departments all worked this past weekend to gather victim’s property and develop leads. Following the leads, Loudon County officers then arrested Johnson and Burns.

Property recovered included guns, ammunition, electronic items, law enforcement equipment, purses and other items. Several victims have already been notified to pick up their items.

Sheriff Tim Guider noted that in addition to this property being recovered, the Loudon County CID unit has recovered thousands of dollars in stolen items over the past few months, including ATV’s and a tractor.

Guider also wants to issue a caution to people about leaving valuables in their vehicles, leaving their vehicles unlocked, and leaving keys in any vehicle.
