A Lenoir City man is facing a domestic assault charge after a dispute over a woman's cellphone number.

Sent to the 1400 block of Old Highway 95 in reference to a past physical domestic call, Lenoir City Police Officers Jordan Samuels and John Ailor talked with Jelmer Jurandir Saucedo, 33, who was inside a vehicle in the driveway.

Due to a “language barrier,” officers called another person to the scene to help. Saucedo said a woman became jealous after seeing an unknown woman’s number on his cellphone. The woman confirmed the two argued over an unknown phone number. She told him to leave the house, and pushed him. Saucedo then punched her with a closed fist and tossed her on a sofa, according to the report.

“She stated that while she was being choked she had a panic attack, stopped breathing and that’s when he stopped,” Samuels wrote in his report. “(The woman) states that while she was being choked, she was in fear for her life, so she started to scratch his face in order to get away from him.”

Saucedo was charged with domestic assault-misdemeanor and released on $3,000 bond.
