Past Elections

Every election is different, turnout is different and candidates are different but a look back at a couple past elections is helpful.

In Loudon, the only incumbent councilman running for re-election is Tim Dixon. Four years ago, Dixon received 681 votes, the highest vote for all council candidates. In the mayor's race, Jeff Harris defeated the incumbent mayor with 834 votes. Tammi Bivens who is challenging incumbent mayor Harris, won her council race in 2018 with 620 votes.

In Lenoir city, all three incumbent councilmen, James Brandon, Buddy Hines and Jim Shields are running for re-election. in 2018, Hines led the contested council race with 1065, Shields had 987 and Brandon got 958. Brandon beat out Todd Kennedy by 11 votes. Of course that's when Brandon was running to repeal the Rain Tax. Now that he supports the Rain Tax, those extra 11 votes might be harder to come by.

Rick Chadwick who is running for a council spot, has been on the Lenoir City school board for 27 years. Chadwick always get's a good vote in school board races. In his last school board election in 2020, Chadwick received a vote of 2,018.

It's all up to the voters now.
