Pair charged after marijuana found

Two people face drug charges after law enforcement responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle and person.

Dispatched to a grocery store off U.S. Highway 321, Lenoir City Police Officer Keith Sennett located the silver Ford Focus in question.

While speaking to two people inside the vehicle, Sennett found out driver Shawn Desmond Williams, 29, had two outstanding warrants.

“K9 Dagger was deployed on the vehicle for a open air sniff,” Sennett wrote in his report. “K9 Dagger alerted on the driver side of the vehicle. Located under the driver seat was a gray wooden box. Located inside the box was approximately 24.7 grams of marijuana in two clear bags, a marijuana grinder, a digital scale and a glass pipe.”

Officers found a “large quantity” of clear plastic bags in the glove box, according to Sennett’s report.

Sennett also found a loaded needle in passenger Erica Nicole Dunlap’s purse, which tested positive for methamphetamine.

Williams, 29, Loudon, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, manufacture, sell, delivery and resale of a Schedule VI substance, failure to appear-municipal court and violation of probation and held on $14,000 bond. Dunlap, 32, homeless, was charged with simple possession/casual exchange and held on $1,000 bond.
