$1.00

Sometimes I'm still amazed at things.

Above is an outdoor, solar yard light. If you've been by our house after dark any time lately, you can see, Sarah really likes outdoor yard lighting. She's got them all around the house, all around the goat pen fence, even on the goat barn. Looks like a runway around here after dark.

I took one of the lights apart after it quit working. You have a 1"x 1" glass solar panel, a AAA rechargeable battery, an LED light, small circuit board with a couple diodes on it, a clear lens and all the necessary plastic housing components. Of course, it comes from China. China is 7,039 miles from Lenoir city. Had to be a lot of research and development and engineering to make the product.

The outdoor, solar yard light cost $1.00. All the components, all that shipping from that far away and still $1.00.

I know the Chinese are probably paying a bunch of six year olds, ten cents a day, to put them together, but still, $1.00?

I don't know, guess it's just me but that still seems incredible.
