One Year Ago

One year ago, (1/30/09) a group of doctors and nurses rolled me into an operating room, opened my chest, stopped my heart and installed four new arteries so my heart would continue to beat and keep me alive.

I knew I had a problem but I had no idea just how bad it was. The doctor said I was very fortunate to still be alive but now I should be four times better than ever.

One year ago, I started my second life with a whole new outlook and a whole different perspective. I take every day of my second live as a gift, a day that I could have missed. Things that seemed so important before, now not so much. Things I used to take for granted, I now pay closer attention to.

If all I had gotten was just this one year, it was worth it, if for no other reason than I got to see my grandson, my sons son, my legacy enter the world. Life is good. I'm sort of hoping for another fifty years.

What a difference a year makes.
