Man dies in Loudon County wreck

A man died Saturday in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Loudon County.

Paul J. Batey, 67, was killed during the 4 p.m. wreck on state Highway 72 near the intersection of Stockton Valley Road, according to information from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Batey was driving a 2001 GMC truck westbound on the highway when he drove off the roadway then over-corrected, according to troopers. The vehicle rolled then struck a tree. During the crash Batey was ejected from the truck. According to an incident report, Batey was not wearing a seatbelt and troopers ordered alcohol and drug tests.
