Officials to help Monroe, Loudon veterans receive benefits

wbir.com-Veterans in Monroe and Loudon Counties will have an opportunity to meet with experts to help them learn and apply for benefits.

On Wednesday, April 24, representatives from the Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs (TDVA) and other organizations will be at the Senior Citizens Center located at 901 Main St. in Loudon. They will answer questions, provide information and assist in enrollment opportunities for Veterans and other eligible beneficiaries. They will be available from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

Veterans will need to present a copy of their DD-214 and any other service related documents to assist with filing claims for federal benefits.

A number of organizations are joining together to make this possible, including TVDA, the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, United States Department of Veterans Affairs Vet Center, Veteran Service Officers in Monroe and Loudon Counties, the University of Tennessee-Knoxville Veterans Upward Bound Programs, American Red Cross Volunteers of America, Operation SAVE which is part of the Tennessee Valley Coalition to End Homelessness and the Loudon County Convenience Center to offer a Veterans outreach event for Monroe and Loudon Counties.
