Nelson Out, In

In a surprising move, 9th Judicial Circuit Court Judge candidate, Kim Nelson, has withdrawn from the judge's race and has now qualified to seek the 9th Judicial Public Defender position. Nelson had been considered, by some, as the front runner in the judge's race at least here in Loudon County.

Both races will be on the August, state primary election.

Ms. Nelson posted about her decision on her facebook page.

I want to thank all of my friends for your overwhelming support in my campaign for Circuit Court Judge. This has been an exciting week and a week of change. As the end of the week approaches I find myself being led in a new direction. While out campaigning and meeting new friends in Loudon, Roane and Morgan and Meigs counties I have become aware that in my heart I'd rather be back in the courtroom... and on the other side of the bench helping people. Today I am announcing that I will be seeking the position of Public Defender for the 9th Judicial District. I feel like I'm am being led in this direction and called to this position. I want to ask for your continued support and prayers.

Thank you, Kim
