|The Loudon County commission budget committee met with
Circuit/General Sessions Court Clerk, Lisa Niles, Monday to discuss the
demands of the law suit she filed against the county. Earlier this
month, Niles filed a petition with the court demanding nearly
$230,000.00 more to her budget.
After two hours, the budget meeting had to be adjourned in order for members to attend the monthly workshop but agreed to return to meet with Ms. Niles after the workshop. Budget committee members asked Ms. Niles if she would reconsider her previous request.
In the second meeting, Niles gave the budget committee a new lower request of $98,500.00. This figure did not include the previous additional personal and raises nor did it include the cost of insurance and benefits for new personnel. The budget committee adjourned the second meeting with plans to reconvene next Wednesday to continue discussions.
Below is a little historical, fiscal information on both courts. The 2003 Audit numbers are from Ms. Niles first year in office.
