LENOIR CITY — A 52-year-old Lenoir City man died after a crash on U.S. 321 in which his motorcycle was struck by a sports utility vehicle.

William T. Frye died Monday while being airlifted by Lifestar helicopter to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, said Lenoir City Police Department Sgt. Mike Tinnel.

Frye was traveling north on U.S. 321 about 6:32 p.m. near Interstate 75 when a SUV drove into the 2003 Harley Davidson, Tinnel said. Frye was wearing a helmet.

Tinnel said the driver of the 1998 Ford Expedition, Rodney Stark, 38, of Friendsville, told officers he never saw the motorcycle. Stark pulled out from the median on the highway and struck the bike, the sergeant said.

Tinnel said Stark was cited on a charge of failure to yield the right of way.

More details as they develop online and in Wednesday’s News Sentinel.
