More Raises

At last Thursday's Loudon County school board meeting, the board voted to give a 2% raise to all board employees. The raises will be retroactive to July 1st. The cost of those raises is around $520,000.00. Last month the Loudon County commission took action to give 2.5% raises to all county employees July 1st.

Back in April when the county commission and school board budget committees began meeting to prepare the 2020-2021 budget, we knew it was going to be a very challenging year. Certainly, the Chinese COVID virus was causing serious revenue drops. There was a lot of uncertainty in all our finances. Three to four months after the end of the last fiscal year, June 30, we had a much better picture of the revenues. Fortunately, Loudon County was not hit as hard, financally, as we thought we would be.

The upside is that both the BOE and commission were able to give raises to all county employees who keep the county running.
