McNabb v Harrison 7

In an unbelievable turn of events, Loudon County Chancellor, Tom McFarland, has reinstated former Lenoir City judge, Greg Harrison, back in the city judge position.

At last week's hearing, McFarland, citing a new state law, made the decision to put Harrison back in office until 2030, not withstanding the state supreme court ruling in March 2024 that Harrison was not qualified to hold the office because he did not live in the city as required by the state constitution. Apparently, McFarland felt the unanimous decision of the Tennessee Supreme Court, that removed Harrison from office, didn't apply anymore. The state legislators nor lower court judges can over ride the supreme court or the constitution.

Shortly after the Supreme Court decision, and according to then Lenoir City attorney, Walter Johnson, Harrison resigned the judgeship. After Harrison's resignation, Johnson was appointed to the judge position and Harrison's son was appointed as city attorney.

The final ruling on the case has not yet been signed or published by McFarland's court. But after it is, Ms. McNabb will have the right to appeal McFarland's ruling.

This just seems like the story that never ends.
