Man charged with TennCare fraud in three counties

A Loudon County man is charged in Knox, Loudon and Blount counties with TennCare fraud involving prescription drugs.

The state Office of Inspector General on Friday said Cody M. Graves, 21, of Lenoir City was arrested and charged with doctor-shopping, or going to various doctors in a short period of time to obtain controlled substances — in Graves' case, hydrocodone and tramadol, both opiates.

He faces seven counts of TennCare fraud in Loudon County, one count in Blount County and three counts in Knox County.

TennCare fraud is a Class E felony, carrying a sentence of up to two years in prison per charge. More than 2,520 people have been charged with TennCare fraud since the Office of Inspector General began enforcement in 2005.
