Man arrested on drug charges after Blount County chase

GREENBACK, Tenn. (WATE) - A man was arrested Saturday after leading Blount County deputies on what they say was a drug-fueled chase.

Joshua Edward Davis, 29, is charged with DUI, felony evading arrest, reckless endangerment and driving on a suspended license.

The Blount County Sheriff's Office says the incident started around 4 p.m. Saturday when a deputy tried to stop a truck Davis was driving on Highway 411 South. Deputies say Davis crossed the center line and drove onto the shoulder of the road multiple times.

The deputy followed Davis, who continued to drive erratically before eventually driving into a ditch. he also hit a vehicle sitting on the roadway, according to deputies.

Other deputies threw out spike strips, but Davis was able to drive around them. The sheriff's office says he finally pulled into the driveway of a home on Trigonia Road but refused to get out of the car. Deputies used a K-9 and a Taser to take him into custody.

Deputies say he admitted he had taken methamphetamine, suboxone and Adderall earlier in the day. Deputies found multiple syringes and other drug paraphernalia in his vehicle.

Daivs is being held on bonds totaling $8,500.
