Madisonville man flees police after robbery

A Madisonville man was arrested Saturday after law enforcement learned he stole a woman’s prescription medication at a Loudon pharmacy.

Responding to a robbery off Grove Street, dispatch told Loudon Police Officer Bruce Padgett a man “assaulted and forcibly took” a woman’s medication just after she had gotten it filled. The man, identified as Bruce Edward Hodge, fled the scene.

“The victim ... stated the male followed her to her vehicle and then struck (her) in the back of her head then grabbed her oxymorphone and oxycodone medication and fled the scene,” Padgett wrote in his report.

The victim’s daughter attempted to stop the altercation, but was pushed to the ground.

Hodge was caught behind a residence on Wharf Street. The homeowner said Hodge entered her home through the front door and hid in her son’s room.

“Upon arriving to jail, ... Watson was conducting a full body search on Hodge, when Hodge attempted to remove his sock. Watson noticed several green circle pills started to hit the floor,” Padgett wrote in the report, adding 56 oxymorphone pills and 54 oxycodone pills were recovered.

Hodge, 34, was charged with robbery, two counts of assault, burglary of a motor vehicle, evading arrest, contraband in a penal institution and two counts of manufacture, delivery, sale or possession of a Schedule II substance and held without bond.
