Loudon man jailed on domestic assault charge

A Loudon man was taken to Loudon County Jail on a domestic assault charge after deputies responded Saturday to a Summer Street residence.

Receiving a call of a domestic disturbance at the 900 block of Summer Street, Loudon Police Officer Bobby Lankford talked with a woman who said she and Roland Russell, 64, got into an argument. The woman said Russell pushed her.

A man who tried to intervene in the argument was also assaulted by Russell. The man fought back, striking Russell around the face and knocking out a tooth.

“Roland Russell then retrieved a bat and struck (the man) about the left arm and hand causing visible marks and swelling to the left arm and left hand of (the man),” Lankford wrote in his report.

Russell was determined the primary aggressor and was transported to Loudon County Jail. Russell was charged with aggravated assault and held without bond.

Riden appeared to be nervous, “fumbling with his wallet and trying to hide some sort of item” when handing Dailey his license. Dailey was then handed rolling papers, he wrote. Both parties were asked to get out of the vehicle for a search. “While Mr. Green was taking off his socks he was hesitant (because) inside of his sock was a small bag of what appeared to be crystal meth that he stated was salt,” Dailey wrote, adding there were .4 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine.
