Loudon Co. Chief Deputy selected for FBI academy

LOUDON COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A local law enforcement officer has been chosen to attend the National FBI Academy.

The Loudon County Sheriff's Office said Chief Deputy Jimmy Davis has been one of a select few to attend the academy in Quantico, Virginia.

The academy is held over a 10-week period and is a professional study course for U.S. and international law enforcement managers "who are nominated by their agency heads because of demonstrated leadership qualities," the sheriff office said.

The Loudon County Sheriff's Office said Chief Davis is a Loudon County native who joined the sheriff's office in 1996 as a Corrections Deputy. In 1997, the sheriff's office said Davis was promoted to Patrol Deputy before being promoted to Patrol Corporal in 1999 and Patrol Sergeant in 2002. Davis was then elevated to Assistant Chief and 2005 before taking his present position in 2017.
