Local man charged with aggravated child abuse
 
A Lenoir City man was arrested June 3 after law enforcement responded to a call of child abuse allegations by a 12-year-old boy.
 
Lenoir City Police Officers Jimmy Yokum and Carlos Espinoza responded to a call on the 200 block of Executive Meadows Drive after a witness said a boy ran down the street and then came back, saying he needed help because he had been beaten. Officers talked with the boy and Robert Dale Smith, 36.
 
“Officers noted multiple marks on the boy’s arms and legs and that the boy was visibly in fear,” Inv. Brad Brown wrote in his report. “(I) was called to the scene wherein numerous injuries consistent with being hit with a belt were observed on both legs, both arms, left shoulder and left hip.”
 
Smith admitted hitting the boy after losing his temper.
 
Smith was charged with aggravated child abuse and neglect and released on $20,000 bond.

May 30

• Timothy Ryan Jones, 37, Loudon, was charged with assisting other agency and released without bond.
 
• Steve Dillen Langley, 21, Lenoir City, was charged with failure to appear and released on $1,000 bond.
 
• Robert Eugene Lester, 32, Lenoir City, was charged with violation of probation and driving on a revoked/suspended license and released without bond.
 
• Lucille Goins Roberts, 68, Lenoir City, was charged with two counts of simple possession/casual exchange and released on $2,000 bond. Observing a black Ford Taurus travel on Highway 70 near U.S. Highway 321, Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Cody Fritts identified the vehicle had an illegal tag border around its registration. The registration came back for two different vehicles. After stopping the vehicle, Fritts talked with James Roberts, Cynthia Turner and Lucille Roberts. James’ license came back revoked after checking with dispatch. “While speaking with Mr. Roberts, I observed the front passenger, Cynthia Turner, appear to hide something between the passenger seat and the middle console,” Fritts wrote in his report. After being granted to search the vehicle, Fritts searched between the passenger seat and middle console and found a small, white bottle that contained two Xanax pills. He also found a Xanax pill and three Alprazolam pills in an orange pill bottle in Lucille’s purse, at which time she denied knowing about the Xanax pill and said someone gave her the three other pills, according to the report. James R. Roberts, 51, Lenoir City, was charged with driving on a revoked/suspended license and released on $2,000 bond. Cynthia Jane Turner, 53, Lenoir City, was charged with simple possession/casual exchange and released on $1,000 bond.
 
• April Michelle Wakeman, 36, Cleveland, was charged with violation of probation and released without bond.
 
• Jamy Stuart Wilson, 44, Loudon, was charged with driving under the influence and driving on a revoked/suspended license and held on $5,000 bond.

May 31

• Dustin Ray Atkins, 31, Loudon, was charged with theft under $500 and released on $1,000 bond.
 
• Samantah Colleen Elk, 24, Lenoir City, was charged with manufacture, delivery, sale or possession of methamphetamine and held on $3,000 bond.
 
• Jeffrey Alvin Graves, 52, Lenoir City, was charged with manufacture, delivery, sale or possession of methamphetamine and held on $8,000 bond.
 
• Starla Marie Hoppel, 35, Loudon, was charged with theft under $500 and released on $1,000 bond.
 
• Misty Devon Jacques-Davis, 36, Waterstown, was charged with simple possession/casual exchange and possession of legend drugs and released on $2,000 bond.
 
• Christopher Leon Lane, 30, Lenoir City, was charged with two counts of violation of probation and simple possession/casual exchange and released on $3,000 bond.
 
• Christopher Gray Lankford, 26, Lenoir City, was charged with manufacture, delivery, sale or possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering/fabricating with evidence and assisting other agency and held on $9,000 bond.
 
• Amanda Darlene Massengill, 36, Lenoir City, was charged with a juvenile court attachment and released on $150 bond.
 
• James Luke McMahan, 22, Loudon, was charged with vandalism and held without bond.
 
• Roxanna Faye Phillips, 30, Clinton, was charged with violation of probation and released on $2,000 bond.
 
• Alan Hugh Purdy, 29, Philadelphia, was charged with public intoxication and criminal trespass and released on $2,000 bond. Responding to a complaint of a possible shoplifter at a retail store in Lenoir City, Lenoir City Police Officer Ronnie Reagan was informed that loss prevention officers had watched the man for at least three hours while he walked around the store taking items off shelves and cutting off security bands taken from electronics. “The male had a large buggy loaded down with computers and other items and was attempting to go through the front door with the items without paying for them but he noticed Officer Gentry who was standing in the front door and at that point he changed direction and did not see me coming up on him,” Reagan wrote in his report. Purdy eventually gave Reagan his name, and informed law enforcement of his intentions after “several minutes.” Purdy appeared to be under a narcotic, according to the report.

June 1

• Dana Ann Frye, 49, Loudon, was charged with public intoxication and held without bond.
 
• Dakota S. Howard, 18, Lenoir City, was charged with driving on a revoked/suspended license and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and held on $2,000 bond.
 
• Brittney Dawn Nelson, 30, Lenoir City, was charged with contempt of court and held on $366 bond.
 
• Andreas Mendez Vasquez, 18, Loudon, was charged with driving without a license and released on $1,000 bond.

June 2

• Zachary Tyler Gorman, 27, Kodak, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and released on $2,000 bond.
 
• Brittany Nichole Roberts, 28, Corryton, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and released on $2,000 bond.
 
• Heather Nicole Brew Buscher, 32, Sweetwater, was charged with failure to appear-general sessions and illegal possession/fraudulent use of a credit card and held without bond.
 
• Deanna Burnetta Evans, 36, Greenback, was charged with simple possession/casual exchange and possession of legend drugs and released on $2,000 bond.
 
• Joseph Blair McKee, 41, Lenoir City, was charged with a juvenile attachment and failure to appear and held on $2,534 bond.

June 3

• Jason Lane Aldridge, 44, Maryville, was charged with driving on a revoked/suspended license and theft of property and held on $2,000 bond.
 
• Sammy Lynn Clabough, 44, Lenoir City, was charged with theft of property and held on $1,000 bond.
 
• Shane Thomas Cox, 32, Lenoir City, was charged with driving on a revoked/suspended license and released on $1,000 bond.
 
• Andrew Lee Hatmaker, 45, Knoxville, was charged with driving under the influence and released on $3,000 bond.
 
• Travis Eugene Humbert, 36, Philadelphia, was charged with driving under the influence and violation of implied consent and released on $1,500 bond.

June 4

• Jennifer Ann Bahr, 37, Philadelphia, was charged with tampering/fabricating evidence, two counts of simple possession/casual exchange and possession of legend drugs and held on $36,000 bond.
 
• Jennifer Diana Cogdill, 35, Lenoir City, was charged with a Monroe County warrant and released without bond.
 
• Gregory Scott Moore, 50, Sweetwater, was charged with assault and released on $1,000 bond.
 
• Christopher Bradley Newcomb, 29, Lenoir City, was charged with domestic assault-misdemeanor and released on $1,500 bond. Responding to a call on the 200 block of Doyle Street for a possible suicide threat, Lenoir City Police Officer Jason Arden talked with a woman who said Newcomb came home with an “agitated and aggressive attitude.” After being told to not come in, Newcomb hit the door with his fist, breaking the glass. When a man opened the door, Newcomb ran inside and into the upstairs bathroom, where he began throwing objects around the room and said he planned to drown himself in the bathtub. Arden saw the broken door and could hear Newcomb yelling and throwing objects. Arden noted Newcomb appeared aggressive, out of breath and had bleeding knuckles. After emergency medical service responders arrived on scene, Newcomb said he did not want to harm himself.

June 5

• Rebecca Lynn Bradford, 32, Lenoir City, was charged with manufacture, sell, delivery of methamphetamine, tampering/fabricating evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal impersonation and possession of a Schedule III substance and held without bond.
 
• Mary Joe Jones, 37, Knoxville, was charged with driving under the influence, driving on a revoked/suspended license and violation of implied consent and held without bond.
 
• Ricky Warren Rentz, 27, Madisonville, was charged with criminal court capias and held on $1,500 bond.
