Local man arrested after couple argue

A Lenoir City man is facing domestic assault and vandalism charges after he got into an argument with a woman Saturday.
Responding to the area of Hickory Creek Road after a report of a physical altercation on Old Midway Road, Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Chris Jenkins talked with a woman who said she had gotten into an argument with Matthew A. Neely, 23. The woman said Neely threw plates, a wired shelf and firewood at her and punched her in the face twice.

“The victim stated that Mr. Neely grabbed her by the throat,” Jenkins wrote in the report, adding that the victim had a small laceration and knot on the right side of her forehead and three scratch marks on her neck. The woman also had marks on her arms and legs.

The woman said Neely damaged a vehicle owned by her mother. The woman left the residence and went to her parents' home, which was near the Blount County line.

“The victim did give verbal and written statements that the actions of Mr. Neely put her in fear of her life and bodily injury,” Jenkins wrote in the report.

Jenkins, along with LCSO Deputies Brad Rayfield and Chris Bowen, located Neely and placed him under arrest.

Neely was charged with domestic assault-felony and vandalism and released on $10,000 bond.
