Lenoir City man jailed on assault charges

A Lenoir City man is facing a assault charges after he attempted to pick up a child for an Easter service.

Responding to a call on Strange Road, Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Deputies Charles Huskin and Mark Tinnel talked with David Aaron Gooch, 35, and a man and woman. The woman said Gooch came to the residence to take a baby to church for Easter, so she closed the door. Gooch eventually kicked the door and attacked the man while he slept.

“The fight continues and ends up in the kitchen where Mr. Gooch picks up (the baby) and continues to fight, then drops the child in the kitchen floor while (another girl) got her baby sister (and) ran to a bedroom and called 911,” Huskin wrote in his report. “During the altercation (the woman) states that she was pushed by Aaron and caused her to hit her head on the corner of the wall, and Aaron also spit on (the woman).”

Law enforcement arrived and took written statements. Gooch said he came to pick up the child. When the man tried to assault him, he said he placed the child down on the floor.

“During my investigation on scene was found an uncapped syringe, ‘cut’ short straws used in snorting unknown drugs,” Huskin wrote in his report. “The syringe was blamed on another person not named in this report but was stated that she had lived at the residence, and a DCS referral was made at this date.”
