Lenoir City man arrested at truck stop

A Lenoir City man is facing stalking and assault charges after law enforcement was called for a fight.

Dispatched to a truck stop on U.S. Highway 321, Lenoir City Police Officer Jordan Samuels met a man who said he was sitting in his vehicle when an unknown man, later identified as Rick Steve Jackson, 45, walked up to his partially opened window and leaned on the vehicle.

“(The man) states that he then placed his right hand on his off-duty weapon, concealed on his hip,” Samuels wrote in a report. “Mr. Jackson stated, ‘Yeah, go ahead and draw it, I got one too’.”

The man rolled up his window and relocated his vehicle to a different part of the parking lot. As he was driving away, Jackson walked to and opened the door of a F-250 and began rummaging under the driver’s seat.

“Mr. Jackson then began walking across the parking lot to where (the man) was located with his hand behind his back as if he was concealing something,” Samuels wrote in a report, noting the man felt threatened and exited his vehicle. “Mr. Jackson then leaned over a car and brandished what appeared to be a firearm pointing it at (the man). (The man) then drew his weapon and announced himself as a police officer, however Mr. Jackson began advancing toward (the man).”

An unknown man called for Jackson, causing him to return to his vehicle. Both fled the scene. A witness who photographed the incident revealed Jackson did not have a firearm and was showing his hands in a position of someone holding a gun.
Jackson was charged with assault and stalking and released on $4,000 bond.
