Lenoir City couple facing drug charges

A Lenoir City man and woman are facing multiple charges after a law enforcement officer recognized a driver who had a revoked license.

Lenoir City Police Officer Cody Fritts saw Jan. 8 a white Volkswagen Beetle on Wilson Road and noticed the brake lights weren’t working. Fritts also knew the driver, Randall Dale Brown, had a revoked license.

After running the Volkswagen’s registration through dispatch, Fritts learned it was for a black Pontiac Grand Am. Fritts also noticed Brown had pinpoint pupils and glassy eyes. “In plain view in the driver floor board was an uncapped syringe,” Fritts wrote in his report.

After being asked if he had anything illegal on him or in the vehicle, Brown told Fritts he had syringes. A passenger, Candice Denise Russell, retrieved two bags of syringes from her bra when asked if she had anything illegal. A vehicle search was granted.

The search discovered a baggy with 1.06 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 26 1/2 orange pills with imprint 30b974 (Amphetamine), seven white pills with imprint 54733 (Morphine) and 19 blue pills with imprint C1 (Clonazapam).

In the center console area were 42 baggies, and in the passenger seat floorboard was a loaded .38-caliber pistol. Brown was wearing an ankle holster.

Brown said the meth was his, while Russell claimed ownership of the pills. Russell also had a warrant out of Loudon County.
Brown, 33, was charged with manufacture, delivery, sale or possession of a Schedule II substance, driving on a revoked/suspended license, unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon, possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony and possession of drug paraphernalia and held on $34,000 bond.

Russell, 35, was charged with general sessions court capias, manufacture, sell, delivery or resale of a Schedule IV substance and two counts of manufacture, sell, delivery or resale of a Schedule II substance and released on $81,000 bond.
