LENOIR CITY — The Lenoir City Police Department is investigating an apparent suicide today in a parking lot off Interstate 40 eastbound.

A motorist on his way to work found a man's body lying in the gravel parking lot off Exit 364 about 6:30 a.m., Police Chief Don White said.

The motorist was parking his truck when he saw the body, White said, and called police.

The man had been shot once in the head and a pistol was found beside his body, which was about 15 to 20 feet from a truck parked in the middle of the lot.

A note was found, White said.

The investigation is continuing, White said, and identification may be released later today.
