Martel Utility District Board Meeting
(L-R) Board member Mark White, Office manager Gayle Matlock, Board member John Morton
Board member Greg Reed Facilities Manager Larry Butler and Board Engineer

The Martel Utility District, monthly board meeting was held Tuesday. Board member, Mark White, told the members in attendance that there was nothing to discuss pertaining to the possible merger between MUD and LCUB. They had received nothing from LCUB or their attorney at this time.

The board spent much of the meeting discussing the possible alternatives to buying water to supply their customers. MUD has been informed by First Utility District that they that FUD will no longer sell MUD water after December 2020. The engineer in attendance gave them several possibilities for alternative water sources.

Board members questioned FUD's decision to cut them off from from buying water but were willing to continue selling water to LCUB if they take over the MUD district.

MUD board members still maintain that their contract with FUD goes through 2025. Board members agreed to attend the September meeting of the FUD board to see if they could get any explanation for the sudden decision to stop selling them water.
