Knoxville woman attempts prescription theft

A Knoxville woman was taken to Loudon County Jail after trying to steal a bottle of prescription medicine from a customer at a grocery store in Lenoir City.

Kendra Elyse Treadway, 23, Knoxville, and an unnamed accomplice, waited for a man to exit with his prescription medication at a grocery store, according to the arrest report.

As the man left, the accomplice took a bag containing the medicine and attempted to flee before dropping the bag, Lenoir City Police Sgt. Lynette Ladd wrote in the report.

Treadway parked behind the man's vehicle, leapt into the cab and took the bottle of medicine, Ladd wrote. The man showed abrasions from an ensuing struggle, according to the report.

Treadway told police that she did take the bag, only learning later that the bottle was not full, Ladd wrote.

The man told police that he only had six pills because the pharmacy was not able to provide the full prescription at the time.

Treadway was charged with robbery and released on $2,000 bond.
