Knox man charged with aggravated robbery

A Knoxville man has been charged with aggravated robbery after Loudon County Sheriff’s Office and Lenoir City Police Department responded to a call Friday from a woman who said a man was robbing a business off Highway 70 East.

Law enforcement took Marvin Ray Mounts, 30, into custody in front of the business.

“Mr. Mounts was identified as the individual claiming to have a gun and stating he was robbing the business,” LCSO Inv. Sgt. Jason Smith wrote in a report. “Witnesses reported he had a shirt wrapped up with his hands in it and they felt he had a gun in the shirt. (The woman) was in the lobby of the business when Mr. Mounts entered. She said he stated, ‘I’m robbing you. Give me your money’.”

Mounts hit a bottle of oil, causing it to fall off the shelf onto the floor. His actions placed workers and customers in fear, Smith wrote in a report.

Mounts was charged with aggravated robbery and held on $30,000 bond.

Man charged with statutory rape

A Lenoir City man has been charged with statutory rape after law enforcement responded to a call Sept. 9 on Ford Road.

LCSO was dispatched for an incident involving a 14-year-old girl. Deputies spoke with the girl, who said she had sexual intercourse with Blaise Thomas Martin, 21.

The girl reported having sex with Martin three times — once in the driveway of local business and twice at an apartment in McGhee Square.

Martin was brought in for questioning. He admitted having sex with the girl but claimed he didn’t know the girl’s age until her relative confronted him. Martin said he thought the girl was 16 years old.

Martin was charged with three counts of statutory rape and held on $60,000 bond.
