Intoxicated man wrecks car, assaults deputy

A Whitwell man was arrested Aug. 3 for driving under the influence and racked up multiple other charges after wrecking his car.

Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Deputies Mark Rodriguez and Austin Parton and Sgt. Matt Fagiana responded to a single-vehicle wreck on Interstate 75 North where they made contact with the driver, Jason Aaron Bryant, 51, who said he did not remember what happened or what caused the wreck. Rodriguez noticed Bryant was unsteady on his feet, and he was not following deputies’ orders. Deputies also noticed Bryant had defecated himself, Rodriguez wrote in a report.
Rodriguez saw a pipe with marijuana residue in the passenger side floorboard of Bryant’s car.
Priority Ambulance arrived on the scene to asses Bryant for injuries to which he refused treatment. Rodriguez suspected Bryant to be under the influence and asked if Bryant would perform field sobriety tests, which he performed poorly on.
“As I attempted to place Mr. Bryant in custody, he stiffened his arm and was given multiple chances to stop resisting,” Rodriguez wrote in a report. “I, along with Sgt. Fagiana, placed Mr. Bryant on the hood of my patrol car when he started to resist again. Then deputies had to struggle placing him in the patrol car.”
As Rodriguez was transporting Bryant to the jail, Bryant started to “act irate” by using vulgar statements and banging his head on the patrol car cage. Jailers struggled walking Bryant into the facility and placed him in a restraint chair. While jailers placed Bryant in the restraint chair, he struck Deputy Bailey Brockwell with his left knee.
Bryant was charged with resisting arrest, assault, driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia and released on $10,000 bond.

Duo found with hoard of drugs

A Vonore man and Lenoir City teen were arrested Thursday with multiple drug charges.
LCSO Cpl. Chris Jenkins saw a man and woman standing in front of a vehicle with the hood up at a dead-end road off of Hotchkiss Valley with no residences. He spoke with female identified as Makalia Hope Robinson, 18, but could not identify the male as he was being evasive about his identity. The man refused to look at Jenkins and continued working under the hood of the car, Jenkins wrote in a report.
Eventually, the man identified himself as “Cody Allen” and told Jenkins he did not know his social security number. The man was later identified as Cody Allen Price, 29.
When other officers arrived, Jenkins deployed his K9 partner, Deja, to do a free air sniff on the car. Deja gave an alert to the vehicle of illegal narcotics, Jenkins wrote in a report.
“Approximately 0.66 grams of crystal methamphetamine, two baggies of fentanyl weighing 2.32 grams and 1.92 grams, one baggy of heroin with fentanyl weighing 1.9 grams, one suboxone pill and a baggy of marijuana weighing 0.5 grams were found in a container under the hood of the vehicle,” Jenkins wrote in a report. “A baggy of marijuana weighing approximately 1.65 grams, two sets of digital scales and additional baggies were found inside the vehicle.”
Robinson and Price did not claim ownership of the narcotics. Law enforcement also found $5,625 on Price.
Price was charged with criminal impersonation, two counts of simple possession/casual exchange, manufacture, delivery, sale or possession of Schedule II substance, manufacture, sale, delivery or possession of a Schedule II substance, manufacture, sale, delivery or resale of a Schedule I substance and possession of drug paraphernalia and held without bond
