Incompetent Or Delay?

Back on October 4th, I submitted a public records request to Lenoir City administrator/records custodian, Amber Scott. My request was for the current list of non residential storm water payers and what they pay and for it to be sent to me by email. Seems like a pretty simple request? Maybe a four or five page Word or Excel document, open it, attach it and send. Grammar school kids could do it. But apparently, this is a difficult process for city hall officials.

Thirteen days later I received the letter below from Lenoir City attorney, Greg Harrison that explains that he's working with city officials to compile my request. This is the same city attorney who told the council at the "kick Earlena Maples Off The Ballot" meeting that if only two out of of them voted to give Ms. Maples the boot, that would, that would be a majority. Two out of six a majority? My confidence is low that Mr. Harrison will be able to compile my request and get it to me even though the law requires the request be fulfilled within seven days unless it's a real complicated request.

See Letter below.

Do I really believe city officials are that stupid or incompetent that they can't give me the list I ask for? No, but I do believe they are trying to delay my request as long as they can because they know I will publish the list for all to see. So why don't they want the citizens and voters of Lenoir City to see the Rain Tax list?

Maybe they're afraid voters might see the list and it might have an impact on the upcoming city election or maybe I'm wrong and city officials are just are that stupid or incompetent.

Sooner or later they'll have to provide the information and when I get it, I'll share it with you. Maybe then we'll see what they were afraid for you to see.

I can play the game with the best of them.
