Illegal Annexation 2
| Last week I met with a group of property owners and
community members who will be negatively impacted if the illegal
annexation by Lenoir City is allowed to stand. Of course everyone of
them is opposed to the idea of city planning and zoning coming into
their community. Turns out, the developers of Belle West Pointe, directly behind the property involved in the annexation, have been reaching out to property owners adjacent to their development apparently trying to buy additional property. The principal developer, Travis Fuller of Belle Investments and failed former developer, Mike Ross, have been meeting with other property owners in the area. Mike Ross, you may remember was the developer of the Rarity Properties, many which failed and ultimately led to Ross being indicted for fraud and money laundering charges several years. I have no idea if the two developers have met with Mr. Smith, the owner of the annexed property. However, Smith said at the last commission meeting that he had no specific plans for his property. Without a doubt, this annexation is illegal. Tonight, 12/5, I will have the matter on the county commission agenda asking for the county to take any and all actions to prohibit this illegal annexation. If this is allowed to stand, no where in the county will property owners be safe from Lenoir City's insane policies.
