I paid My Taxes

I'm glad to report that last week we paid our 2014 Loudon County property taxes. Collectively we owed the county $3,755.00 for the privilege of residing in our fair county. Well here are some of the things my  $3,755.00 in property taxes may have paid for.

I may have paid the Loudon County's Director Of Schools, salary for about a week and a half.

I may have paid mayor's salary for around two weeks.

I may have paid the sheriff's salary for around two weeks.

I may have paid the judge's salary for about 6 days.

I may have paid one of our six fee office officials salaries for around two weeks.

I may have paid one of our 350 teacher's salaries for two and a half weeks.

Now, given that I am surely an average Loudon County resident, that would mean I make about $39,561.00 per year or about $19.00 per hour. That means I had to work for five weeks to pay my property taxes to provide those things mentioned above.

But the one item I'm most happy I may have paid for with my property taxes is about one day of the school board's three day retreat to Gatlinburg. You see, I'm doing my part to help the little children.

I've done my part to help the county. I hope all you other property owners have done the same.

I suppose there are those who would say I'm getting a good deal for my tax money, but I'm not so sure.
